For the third year running North Lindsey College has achieved its impressive target of recruiting 100 apprentices in 100 days.
The college set the ambitious target of 100 and actually secured 113 new apprentices with local employers.
The college expects substantial growth between now and early next year before funding changes come into place which potentially means that all employers will pay for the training provided.
The college is the largest provider of apprenticeships in North Lincolnshire with over 860 across different sectors and job roles. From using apprenticeships to bring in new staff to using apprenticeships to develop existing staff, employers use apprenticeships to support skills development and to have a real impact within a business.
Apprenticeships can start at any time throughout the year and there has never been a better time to employ an apprentice or start an apprenticeship. It is vital for local employers to offer work experience, traineeships and apprenticeships to help give young people the best start in their chosen career.
Traineeships have also become more popular with employers; offering employers and young people the opportunity to provide a traineeship including work experience before committing to employment and an apprenticeship.
Jill Cooper, Business Development Director at North Lindsey College, said:
“We are delighted to have surpassed the target figure we set again this year. Employers and young people continue to consider apprenticeships as a fantastic opportunity.
“For employers they support them in developing their own talent base, providing a source of new skills for the future. For young people they are usually that first step into employment with the benefit of achieving work-based qualifications so valuable today in the job market.”
The college also held its initial annual award ceremony this year with special guest speaker Ashleigh Porter-Exley who won the BBC’s Young Apprentice in 2012 winning Lord Alan Sugar’s £25,000 prize money.
North Lindsey College is the largest provider of post-16 education and training in North Lincolnshire, offering a wide range of further education programmes, both vocational and academic, and apprenticeship courses at a range of levels.
