ABC Awards is pleased to announce that a new Level 3 Certificate in Peer Mentoring is now available.

This qualification has been developed in partnership with staff from Tribal Group who work with people in criminal justice settings and recognised the need to increase capacity for peer support and for a nationally-accredited training offer to support this growth.

The ABC Level 3 Certificate in Peer Mentoring provides an opportunity for mentors to support their peers to overcome barriers towards engaging with education, training and employment both in custody and the community.  In addition, it provides the peer mentors with transferrable work-related skills which help them to achieve their own employment goals.

This qualification is also suitable for a wide range of practitioners who work in a mentoring or coaching capacity either as paid staff or as volunteers for example as mentors in schools, rehabilitation centres, mental health settings, or staff who offer support with the transition into employment.

Paul Eeles, Chief Executive of ABC Awards, said: “We are delighted to offer this new qualification which has been developed in partnership with Tribal.  The qualification will ensure that those working in a mentoring role are fully equipped to support and coach their peers effectively.”

Margaret Dury, Qualifications Centre Manager, at Tribal said: “Partnership working with ABC Awards has enabled us to develop an accredited offer for our learners, paving the way to employment.”

The qualification has been designed to provide an individual with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment (paid or voluntary), prepare learners for employment and update and improve the skills of those already employed in a mentoring role.
