Talented Brooksby Melton College alumnus, Owen Warner, will be making his debut appearance on Hollyoaks on Monday 2nd July.

Owen, who studied Level 3 Performing Arts (Acting) at BMC, completed his studies at the College in July 2017, quickly securing himself a recurring role on the award winning soap opera.

The young actor will be playing Romeo, the teenage son of Donna-Marie, played by ex-Coronation Street actress, Lucy-Jo Hudson.

When talking about his time at BMC, Owen said ‘Studying Acting at BMC gave me an insight into what it’s like to play a variety of characters, work alongside many other actors, and be directed to a professional standard. During my time there, I learned the fundamental skills and etiquette I needed as an aspiring actor. Every teacher at BMC has a complex understanding of how the industry works, and was able to give me in-depth feedback on my performances, which still helps me to this day. After my two years studying, I felt confident and experienced enough to head straight into the industry, equipped with all the knowledge I had acquired at BMC.”

Arnie Breen, Acting lecturer at BMC, added ‘Owen was a great student who got out of the course what he put in. He gave 110% to every project, workshop and performance we threw at him. He listened, worked hard and questioned us tutors at every opportunity. He took on the challenge of performing in various different styles including Shakespeare, pantomime, physical theatre and acting for camera. He always had a positive attitude and found time to help his fellow students when he could. More than anything, it was his positive attitude towards studying that really made him stand out during his time here at BMC. It is very pleasing to see him get some professional television work so early in his career and we all look forward to seeing how he and all our alumni progress in their chosen careers. We wish him all the best in this new role and ‘break a leg’ Owen!’

BMC offers a range of Performing Arts qualifications, ranging from Level 2 through to Degree level. Students learn from industry-expert lecturing staff, and benefit from learning in state-of-the art facilities including industry-standard film and television studios, rehearsal studios and performance spaces. In addition, students have the opportunity to perform in Melton Theatre, which is housed under the same roof as BMC’s Melton Campus.

You can catch Owen’s Hollyoaks debut on Monday 2nd July on E4.
