Brooksby Melton College is delighted to be placed highest in the East Midlands for 16-18 year old achievement for the second year in a row! The college has also been placed fourth nationally!

In a government review of General FE and Specialist Colleges, BMC has been ranked top across the whole of the East Midlands for achievement among 16-18 year old learners studying Level 3 qualifications, and a fantastic fourth nationally!

BMC has been identified as the highest performing college in the East Midlands region for 16-18 year olds taking Level 3 qualifications, which are equivalent to A Levels.

With a 91.9% achievement rate, BMC stood more than 6% (6.1%) above the National rate of FE and Specialist providers for Level 3 qualifications, meaning that the college also ranked as the fourth highest performing college in the country.

These statistics serve to highlight the benefits for BMC students, demonstrating the college’s commitment to providing a high-standard learning experience, in addition to fantastic state-of-the-art facilities.

BMC is based across two campuses and offers qualifications from Entry Level all the way up to Degree Level.  The Creative and Service Industries Campus in Melton Mowbray provides qualifications in Performing Arts, Film and TV Production, Catering and Hospitality, Hair and Beauty, Life and Living Skills, Early Years, Health and Care Professions and Teacher Training.

The Brooksby Campus, based 6 miles away from the Melton site, offers qualifications in Agriculture, Animal Care, Equine Studies, Construction and Joinery, Countryside Management, Horticulture, Floristry, Land-based Service Engineering, Motor Vehicle Engineering, Sport and Foundation Studies.

Chris Ball, Principal and Chief Executive of BMC, commented “Here at BMC we have had another fantastic year for 16-18 year old achievement at Level 3. I am immensely proud of how hardworking and dedicated all of our students and staff have been this year.

The college works very hard to ensure that our students receive excellent teaching from industry-expert staff, dedicated student support, and state-of-the-art facilities. We also have a strong focus on employability and industry links, so students leave us with all of the skills needed to begin a successful and fulfilling career in their chosen industry.

I am also proud to say that BMC was graded ‘Good’ by OFSTED during this academic year, which is a further testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.

It is hugely rewarding to be able to support so many students to follow their dreams every year, and we are always delighted to celebrate the achievements of our students at our end of year awards ceremonies, which we have recently hosted at the college.’

BMC has recently invested £27.7 million in state-of-the-art facilities across both of its campuses, with the aim of further enhancing the student experience. The Melton campus has benefitted from brand new rehearsal facilities for performing arts students, state-of-the-art production and editing facilities for media students, and industry-standard salons for hair and beauty students. Students also benefitted from the development of the brand new Rural Catering Centre, which features industry-standard facilities for Hospitality and Catering students. In addition, the campus has seen improved facilities for students with learning difficulties, allowing all BMC students to flourish in the college environment.

The specialist land-based campus at Brooksby has benefitted from an extension of the purpose-built animal care centre, fantastic equine facilities such as a brand new Equine Rehabilitation Centre, a £4million investment in a state-of-the-art sports complex, and brand new workshops for engineering and environmental industries students, including new glasshouses for the latter. The Brooksby Campus has also seen improvements in the form of new student accommodation.
