This is an in-person event hosted at The Sheffield College.  The Sheffield College has achieved an international Google accolade for developing teaching staff’s digital skills and is now an accredited Google for Education Reference College for its use of Google tools in the classroom.

The Sheffield College began introducing Google tools five years ago and, more recently, launched a digital development programme in 2020 to build on this.  These tools are now part of a long-term digital evolution that has sought to support staff, whatever their level of skills and confidence, to use technology in their teaching.

Despite the challenges of Covid-19, the impact of this development has seen student achievement rates climb from 77% in 2017/18 to 88% in 2020/21, with the increased use of digital tools in teaching believed to be one of the contributing factors.  Approximately 500 staff have completed training programmes on the Google for Education Suite and around 900 staff have set up Google Classrooms.

Additionally, recent investment has seen the creation of 2 new Innovation Centres for staff.  These centres are equipped with the latest technologies including interactive screens, virtual reality headsets, a 360-degree camera, laptops, writeable walls and tables, and a Merlyn Mind.

As such, we are delighted to be able to welcome participants to The Sheffield College to showcase the digital innovations taking place within the organisation.   Further information which details more specific content about this event, including information in relation to the use of Google tools within particular curriculum areas will follow shortly.

So, if you are responsible for supporting and implementing the use of digital technologies to support delivery and assessment within your organisation, or if you are keen to develop your own digital skills linked to specific curriculum design, then why not come and join us and our colleagues at The Sheffield College for this exciting event.

More details of the specific curriculum areas will be posted shortly, and we  encourage practitioners from these curriculum areas to come along to enhance their digital skills and Pedagogical Content Knowledge.
