Skills and Education Group are now able to offer a range of qualifications to support our colleagues across the FE and Skills sector.

For those leaners interested in working in teaching and/or training within the Further Education and Skills sector, this qualification provides a comprehensive introduction. Learners will explore teaching roles and responsibilities, reflect on appropriate teaching and learning approaches, and plan, deliver and evaluate micro-teaching sessions or assessed practice in a real work environment.

Beginning on Tuesday 04 June 2024, participants on this programme will attend 12, three-hour weekly sessions which include all the elements that are required to begin a journey as a teacher or trainer in the post-16 sector.  Providing an introduction to teaching, and assisting in meeting the needs of a range of trainee teachers and trainers, the course provides guidance and training as highlighted below:

  • Understanding the roles and responsibilities in relation to teaching.
  • Understanding appropriate teaching and learning approaches within specialist areas.
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating micro-teaching sessions or assessed practice in a real work environment.
  • Understanding the use of assessment methods and record keeping.

All required assessment tasks are straightforward and will enable those taking part an opportunity to demonstrate that they are able to put learning into practice through written evidence, delivery of a microteach and ongoing reflection.

There are a total of 12 weekly online sessions beginning on Tuesday 04 June 2024 running until Tuesday 20 August 2024, with the full list of dates detailed in the further information below.  In addition, learning and assessment will be ongoing through our Learning Management System (LMS) where all the resources and assessment materials can be accessed for those on programme.
