This online event via Zoom provides those staff with safeguarding responsibilities an opportunity to meet virtually and to discuss current safeguarding issues. To offer useful guidance and support, we are please to welcome back Sam Slack (East Midlands Regional Prevent Coordinator, HE/FE) who will provide a regional update.
Sam will be joined by designated Safeguarding Lead and consultant, Vicki Stockdale. Vicki is a passionate advocate of initiatives to enhance the experience of our FE students, and with over 20 years’ experience of working in FE undertaking several management roles including that of Safeguarding/Looked After Designate, Vicki also has plentiful experience of Ofsted inspections.
Under her leadership, Vicki’s previous employer was the first FE college to achieve the Carers Federation Standards Award. Her team was also delighted to receive the accolade of winning a NAMSS Team award, and to be shortlisted for a TES support award. And, with an Ofsted report making direct reference to the exemplary safeguarding practice and outstanding support provided by her team, Vicki now works in a consultancy role providing experience by acting as Designate Safeguarding Lead for a national training provider and offering refresher safeguarding training for a local FE provider.
Vicki is keen to broaden her experience of working with a variety of FE providers, and in this meeting Vicki and Sam will share their knowledge of the following Safeguarding issues within post 16 Education:
- KCSIE 2021 changes
- Coming out of the pandemic – lessons learned
- Mental Health (of students and staff)
- Recent terror attacks in the UK – what are self-initiating terrorists?
- Rising Prevent referrals in the Mixed, Unstable, Unclear (MUU) category – what are they?
- Prevent horizon scanning
- Afghanistan – what might it mean for terrorism & extremism in the UK?
So, come and join us for this important safeguarding update, providing those with safeguarding responsibilities an opportunity to participate in what is sure to be a stimulating, engaging and informative session.
