We all like to attend an event which provides us with ideas, and the focus this time is on sharing good training resources. Please bring an item to share, perhaps a training approach that has worked particularly well with staff or students or an effective resource you have developed or discovered.
To start us off, Alison will share some powerful interactive, drama-based approaches to challenging bias and raising awareness, and Brian Harrison (Employer Engagement Manager, Landmarks Independent Specialist College) will share a quiz to identify knowledge of current EDI terms and definitions.
It is LGBT History Month in February and Rachel Adair (Lincoln College) and colleagues will share how they organised a Pride event supported by their Youth and Wellbeing team.
What are the links between EDI and wellbeing? We know that the new Ofsted EIF sets great importance upon staff and student wellbeing. Do we need to make stronger connections between effective EDI practice and what needs to be done to improve wellbeing?
Facilitated by Dr Alison Scott (Lead Professional Development Advisor) there will be plenty of opportunity to collaborate and exchange good ideas. Here are some evaluations from last term's meeting:
- it has been interesting to listen to other organisations’ procedures in relation to social mobility and inclusion.
- lots of really useful ideas to carry forward.
- fantastic discussion and information - all really useful
- great networking opportunities.
We look forward to working with you.
