We are at the start of ‘green’ developments on the scale needed to reverse damaging trends in climate change, and this exciting event is designed to promote thinking around the contributions our sector can make in promoting awareness and providing the new skills which will be needed to address this vital agenda.
The first half of the event will focus on strategy, and as part of this element of the programme, we are delighted to welcome Nadia Whittome (MP for Nottingham East). Nadia will provide a keynote opening address on the Labour Party’s Green New Deal proposals and the opportunities for new forms of employment. Nadia was elected in the 2019 general election and is the youngest member of the House of Commons at the age of 24. Since 2020, Nadia has also been a member of the Environmental Audit Committee and is a co-sponsor of the Climate and Ecology Emergency Bill.
The second part of this morning’s event will feature practitioner inputs from Boston and York Colleges about their ‘green’ initiatives. We will also hear from Todmorden Community Learning Hub which is piloting a new modular programme in September of ‘green’ pathways for learners.
A detailed agenda will follow shortly.
