World Health Week was supported by students at North Lindsey College with free health checks available to all.

Sport students were giving out free health checks to staff and students at North Lindsey College as part of their programme in support of World Health Week. The health checks included BMI checks, blood pressure, waist circumference height and weight.

Jessica Burrows (17) is a student studying Exercise and Fitness and was helping out with the free service. Jessica commented, “It’s really important raising awareness of healthy eating and exercise. It’s been really inspiring to help others and benefit them.”

Students and staff could also enter a draw for accessing a free health check with the opportunity to win a Fitbit for downloading the Change4Life sugar smart app. The app is designed to highlight and raise awareness of how much hidden sugar is in our daily food and drink.

Free fruit and fruit smoothies were also available for sampling too with free advice and guidance explaining the importance of health and personal choices.

The College extended the level of support to students and raised awareness of healthy related issues. The College also recently held a specific theme based on energy drinks and the dangers around drinking them and the effects they can have on the body.
