Hospitality and catering students from emfec member Northampton College enjoyed a successful night at the annual Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards.
The gala dinner, held at the Royal & Derngate, celebrated the best of Northamptonshire producers, pubs, cafes, restaurants and chefs, with the culinary industry coming together to toast their success.
Students from Northampton College helped prepare the sumptuous three-course menu, with teams working throughout the week to create dishes using local ingredients.
Meanwhile, two former Northampton College students took centre stage by dominating the coveted Young Chef of the Year category, coming in first and second place.
Tamsin Hamilton-Testrote, who completed her Level 3 course at the college last year, won the award for her work at Kettering Park Hotel. Tamsin will enjoy a two-day trip to London to spend the days with top chefs Jacob Kenedy at Bocco di Lupo and Michel Roux Jnr at Le Gavroche.
Runner-up Perry Langley, a fellow alumnus, is now working at Nuovo in Abington Street.

"It was a wonderful experience for our students to be part of such an amazing night. The food and drink scene in Northamptonshire is thriving and we are providing some top quality young chefs to help push the standards high.
"It's great to see Tamsin and Perry get the recognition they so richly deserve. They have both worked extremely hard and have a real flair in the kitchen".

Northampton College provides a range of qualifications and Apprenticeships to over 9,000 students. Their culinary facilities are highly regarded in the catering industry and later this month will play host to the national cook-off in the Bangladesh Caterers Association Curry Chef Awards.
