Teenagers thinking of applying for further education qualifications have a chance to sample dozens of courses at Buxton and Leek College this month.
Free taster workshops being held at emfec member Buxton and Leek College over the October half term offer a golden opportunity for students in years 10 and 11 to 'try before they apply'.
On offer at the campuses in Leek and Buxton is everything from art, design and performing arts to hospitality and catering tasters. Sessions are being held from Monday 26 October until Friday 30 October to allow prospective students to try out the courses they are interested in, meet the tutors and view the college's facilities.
Young Persons Recruitment Officer Louise Fletcher said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to sample a ‘taste’ of a course area that they have a genuine interest in, as well as experiencing how different college life is from being at school”.
Sessions will be taking place from 9.30am until 12.30pm and from 1pm to 4pm on every day of the week. For those who can’t make the taster sessions this month, there will be Advice Days taking place on 25 November at the Leek Campus and 26 November at Buxton’s Dome, when classrooms will throw open their doors and prospective students will be able to meet the tutors and the students from their chosen courses.
