For the Staff Development Managers Network, we are privileged to welcome a presentation from David Stapleton, Staff Development Manager at the Grimsby Institute (Grade 1 provider) who will present how a dynamic and innovative approach to staff development led to a very positive impact on the progress that learners made. This network is facilitated by Jo Shirley, Head of Professional Development at emfec, who brings a wealth of experience on her approach to a whole college approach to professional development who, along, with David will drive discussion on identifying what effective CPD is and how to successfully evidence the impact. Jo is also facilitating this terms Blended Learning Network on 6 February. With not only her own experience of introducing effective and quality online learning content feeding into the network, but also the opportunity to hear from Steven Hope, Technology Enhanced Learning Manager at Leeds City College on how they became a national leader for cloud based Google Education and their approach to re-skilling staff using a Moodle platform to successful use of G-Suite. Peter Kilcoyne from Heart of Worcester Blended Learning Consortium will address different approaches to successfully implementing the consortium content, including a range of platforms (Canvas, Moodle and integration with G-Suite). Don’t miss DfE Regional Prevent Co-ordinator for FE & HE, Sam Slack at the always popular Safeguarding Network on 15 February, who will provide delegates with a focussed overview of the regional and national security picture, as well as the latest updates on implementation of the Prevent Statutory Duty in the FE sector. He will focus on how organisations remain informed of the risks they face, where to obtain information regarding best practice and how to prepare in this area of business for Ofsted inspections. This network which will facilitated by Markham May, a well respected emfec associate who will focus on input around GDPR in relation to safeguarding – a very current topic.
