We now have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to cover maternity leave.

This role is on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. The fixed term contract is expected to end January 2027.

About the role

 The Finance Officer is responsible for managing the day-to day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accurate record-keeping & compliance with financial regulations.

The role involves processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with reporting and administration tasks. The Finance Officer ensures the smooth running of financial processes and compliance with organisational policies and regulations.

To support the senior management.

To provide general financial administration for all Skills and Educations Group companies

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.

  • Prepare and issue invoices, process payments, and maintain accurate financial records.

  • Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, petty cash, and other financial accounts.

  • Support financial reporting, audits, and ad hoc data analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with financial procedures and regulatory requirements.

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have experience working in a finance or accounts environment, with a solid understanding of financial processes such as invoicing, reconciliations, and ledger management. You should have excellent attention to detail, strong numerical and organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.

You will be confident using financial software and Microsoft Excel, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential, as you’ll be liaising with colleagues across departments and external partners.

Experience in the education or charity sector would be advantageous, but not essential.
