The Taste Restaurant at Leicester College is reopening to the public from 29 September 2021 after being closed since the first lockdown in Leicester in March 2020. The restaurant has been completely refurbished with new fixtures and furnishings, and the addition of a new seating area.

In addition to the new, contemporary look, there will also be a new interactive screen so that customers can view the students preparing their meals ‘live’ in the restaurant kitchen.

The restaurant remains open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtimes, offering a three-course choice menu. A fine dining menu is available in the evenings on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Taste has been offering fine-dining experiences at accessible prices for many years in Leicester. The restaurant is fully catered and staffed by Leicester College food and hospitality students, under the supervision of industry-experienced teachers.

This unique, real working environment allows the College’s students to showcase the skills they have learned, both in the kitchen and front of house areas, preparing them for work in the industry.

Andrea Bridge, Restaurant Manager and Front of House Lecturer at Leicester College, said: “The hospitality industry has been one of the hardest hit sectors during the pandemic. By training the chefs and front of house staff of the future, we will be supporting the industry going forward.

“We’re really excited about the refurbishment of the restaurant. It will look and feel much more contemporary, but still offer the high-quality food and service that people have come to expect. We look forward to fully reopening and welcoming more customers to experience what our students have to offer.”
