At Skills and Education Group, we champion inclusivity, equality, and diversity. These values are not just part of our mission; they are the foundation of everything we do, because we believe in creating opportunities for all learners, regardless of background or ability.

How We Support SEND Learners

We know that one size does not fit all in education. That’s why we’re committed to implementing processes, support systems, and flexibility to help learners reach their potential, wherever their aspirations may lead. We champion social mobility, and we’re here to empower learners to succeed , with guidance and support  at every stage.

Accessible and Inclusive Qualifications

Through our awarding organisations, Skills and Education Group Awards and BIIAB, we develop qualifications that are designed with accessibility in mind. This includes:

  • Flexible assessment methods tailored to different learning needs and,
  • Qualifications that are free from unnecessary barriers to success.

Our goal is to ensure that all learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), can access education that is fair, relevant, and inclusive.

In addition to our regulated qualifications, Skills and Education Group also offers accreditation services for bespoke, non-regulated courses.

If you’re a provider delivering your own customised training, whether it’s tailored to a specific industry, learner group, or educational need, we can help you add value and credibility through official certification from a recognised Awarding Organisation.

This accreditation allows you to:

  • Offer learners a certified outcome that recognises their achievement,
  • Add the trusted reputation of an awarding body to your bespoke courses and,
  • Demonstrate your commitment to quality and standards.

Whether your course is focused on professional skills, SEND supports, workplace training, or community engagement, our flexible approach ensures your learners receive the recognition they deserve.

See how Whizz Kidz have put this into practice with their Wheelchair Skills Training for Young People, aged 2 to 25 here.

Ongoing Support for Training Providers

All our approved Training Providers are assigned a dedicated Relationship Manager (RM) who is a direct point of contact offering support and guidance across a range of areas, including:

  • Curriculum planning (with SEND learners in mind),
  • Sharing best practice in inclusive teaching and assessment
  • Advising on reasonable adjustments to help meet individual learner needs

This hands-on support enable providers to deliver a learning experience that is inclusive, empowering, and aligned with learners’ unique strengths and challenges.

Funding Opportunities through the SEG Foundation

The Skills and Education Group Foundation is accessible through our Membership offer and provides grants that can be used to:

  • Support learners from all backgrounds, including those with SEND and,
  • Fund projects or resources that improve accessibility and learner engagement.

These grants help alleviate some of our Members’ financial barriers and contribute to providing learners with the tools and experiences they need to thrive in education.

Professional Development for Educators

We recognise that supporting SEND learners isn’t just our responsibility as an Awarding Organisation, it’s a collective effort. That’s why we offer SEND-focused (and many more) CPD opportunities for educators and professionals across the sector.

Our CPD offering includes:
