Joe Mcloughlin, Membership, Foundation and Professional Development Manager

You’ve made it. Congratulations.

The summer break is almost here, and I hope you’ve got some well-deserved rest, relaxation and quality time planned over the coming weeks. After everything you’ve given this year, you’ve certainly earned it.

Before you switch on your out-of-office and head off for the summer, though, I’d like to take a moment to talk about something that’s often pushed down our priority list when life gets busy: continuous professional development.

As educators, trainers and leaders, we know you’re all juggling an ever-growing range of responsibilities.

You might be teaching and assessing learners while juggling planning engaging enrichment activities and managing course delivery. You could be providing mental health and wider pastoral support to learners, developing information, advice and guidance resources, and helping individuals navigate their next steps. Or perhaps you’re leading a college or training provider organisation, balancing funding pressures, responding to local skills needs, working with employers and navigating an increasingly complex policy landscape.

Whatever your role, the demands can feel relentless.

When we’re focused on supporting others, it’s often our own development that takes a back seat. Yet we know that investing in CPD is one of the most effective ways to improve practice, build confidence and create better outcomes for learners.

We want to support you, and we know that effective CPD boosts your organisation’s capability, improves morale, aids recruitment and retention and helps professionals stay informed, inspired, and connected. Most importantly, it provides the space to reflect, learn and grow.

That’s why we’ve developed a sustained programme of CPD events that are designed  to support professionals across the education and skills sector. These events span a range of subjects, with something for everyone.

These events cover a range of topics and are led by speakers with years of experience and evidence-informed insights. All sessions are delivered online, making it easy to participate wherever you’re based. Join us from your workplace, your home office or anywhere with a good internet connection, and leave with fresh ideas, useful resources and renewed motivation for the year ahead.

So before you sign off for your well-earned summer break, take a moment to explore our upcoming events, pop them in your diary and book a place before the business of September takes over.

Future you will thank you for it.

Go on, treat yourself.
