We are pleased to advise you that a meeting of the Additional Learning Support Network has been added to our spring events programme. This popular termly event provides an opportunity for ALS specialists from across the further education and skills sector to come together to discuss, explore and share best practice on all matters relating to Additional Learning Support (ALS), Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) and Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LLDD).
Exam Access Arrangements (EAA) is the timely topic for this term. As such, staff with responsibility for EAA are encouraged to attend this online meeting chaired by Pat Brennan-Barrett (Principal and Chief Executive, Northampton College). Lia Castiglione from Communicate-ed will provide a welcome input on best practice in identifying appropriate access arrangements for FE students in line with current JCQ regulations. In addition, assistive technologies that are available to support learners in preparing for their exams, is a further timely subject to be included at this informative online networking event.
This collaborative Zoom event will offer those attending an opportunity to ask questions, debate current advice and guidance and share practice in relation to the above topic and other items such as assistive technologies, EHCPs and stakeholder involvement . In addition, participants to the network are welcome to suggest other particular topics or areas of interest that they would find beneficial to discuss, so that these topics can be considered for inclusion as agenda items.
Due to the nature of the agenda for today's event, this meeting is ideal for all staff who are responsible for supporting and arranging Extenuating Assessment Arrangements, ensuring that all students who are eligible for access arrangements, are identified and assessed in a timely manner.
