If you’d told me a year and a bit ago that I’d be an award finalist, I wouldn’t have believed you. When I first started this apprenticeship, I hadn’t even heard of WordPress (the tool we use to build and manage our websites!).
Now, a year and four months in, it still feels like a match made in heaven with marketing. I’m genuinely so happy to be at Skills and Education Group, and I feel like I’ve already achieved so much. So, let’s dive in.
Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards
This month, I attended the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards as a finalist in the Creative, Media and Marketing category. Being a finalist was an incredible experience, and it reminded me why apprenticeships mean so much to me.

Since joining Skills and Education Group, becoming a finalist has been one of my biggest goals, and it feels incredible to have achieved it with the support of my colleagues. Being a finalist at this event meant so much to me because my apprenticeship truly changed my life for the better. It helped me find a brilliant company, discover a career path I love, build real skills, and even move into my own place. The event itself was fantastic! It was full of impressive dance displays, great energy, and plenty of networking opportunities.
If that wasn’t enough, Skills and Education Group was also a finalist, and we won the Charity, Voluntary & Public Services Employer Award. That was an incredible, unforgettable moment, and I am so pleased to have been part of it.
All Staff Day
Earlier this month, we also had our All-Staff Day. It was such a great day, and everyone went all out with their team presentations!
The Marketing Team created a presentation using AI that made each team member a fairy character and showcased how we sprinkle our marketing magic across the Skills and Education Group kingdom and beyond. My absolute favourites on the day were the relationship managers’ blind date-style presentation, with Paul as Cilla, and the Access team’s version of Ant and Dec – John and Angela. It was so much fun seeing how creative people can be while also explaining their team’s goals and priorities.
We also took part in a Clifton Strengths training session, which gave me some beneficial insights into how both my team and I work best. It feels really empowering to understand what you should work on, what your strengths truly are, and how to get the most out of them.
It is so amazing to be part of a company that prioritises its employees’ strengths and encourages team building.
EPA
I’m now in my EPA (End-Point Assessment), which feels like a huge milestone. As part of my EPA, for my final project, I’ve took charge of the monthly content theme, animal care, which is one of my favourite sectors.
I’ve absolutely loved leading this campaign and working closely with my team to deliver it. It feels like the perfect way to consolidate everything I’ve learned so far in my apprenticeship.
On top of that, my team has been so helpful with everything and has been supporting me with my EPA.
Christmas
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, it’s Christmastime, which I’m extremely giddy about! It never disappoints and has already been packed with prizes, Christmas jumpers, CPD, Secret Santa, and most importantly (you know I love food!) a chip van.

This will be my first Christmas in my new home, which makes it extra special. I’ve already made a gingerbread house, so the festive vibes are underway.
Overall, it’s been a positive few weeks, with lots going on, as always. Christmas is definitely one of the best times of the year, and I can’t wait to celebrate with my team and my loved ones. I’m also looking forward to the new year, to receiving my EPA result and moving on to the next stage of my marketing career. Watch this space.
