Skills and Education Group launch new training programme
The Skills and Education Group have launched an innovative 12-week programme that will enable teachers and assessors in India to obtain a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
The programme, which is a first for the group, begins this week and will culminate in key members of the Skills and Education Group’s team travelling to India to deliver face-to-face training.
Those attending the programme will then train adults to teach other adults across a variety of vocational courses including plumbing, carpentry, and healthcare.
Attendees are from across India and the work-based qualifications they are being trained to teach will be situated in different parts of the country.
Karen Plowman, Head of Professional Development at Skills and Education Group, said:
“We are thrilled to be working with colleagues at Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre to further enhance the skill set of India’s future teaching talent. This has been such a fantastic programme to develop and we have worked hard to devise really engaging, interactive sessions that draw on our extensive pedagogical experience. Our Group is passionate about education, training and development and we’re keen to promote that expertise internationally.
“The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a qualification offered by Skills and Education Group Awards, so we were perfectly placed to design the right content to match the criteria our learners will then be assessed by. It‘s also given us the chance to think about how UK standards align with teaching in India, and we are looking forward to watching our learners work with our material in the context of their country and learning new ways of working from them.”
Professor Vimal Rarh from the Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre at SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, said:
“We are delighted to be working with the Skills and Education Group on this ground-breaking new programme. The Indian education sector is passionate about achieving the highest quality of teaching. This collaboration will not only strengthen that quality, but it will also benefit people in multiple places around the country.”
All of the programme’s content is on a learning management system so every learner has uninterrupted access to the resources they need.
Overall, the programme will take a blended approach, comprising online and face-to-face learning, along with elements of self-study.
The Skills and Education Group team plan to travel to India later this year.
The Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre (GAD-TLC) is a Centre of the Ministry of Education (PMMMNMTT) at SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi.
