12 March 2025
Hey everyone, welcome back to another monthly blog! March has been a whirlwind—just because National Apprenticeship Week is over doesn’t mean things have slowed down. Let’s dive in! I’m incredibly proud to have been named Apprentice highly commended in the Appy Snappers 2025 competition, organised by the North-East National Apprenticeship Network.
Runner-Up in the Appy Snappers 2025 Competition
One of the biggest highlights this month was being named runner-up in the Appy Snappers 2025 competition, organised by the North-East National Apprenticeship Network. This competition challenged participants to capture an image that represents their apprenticeship journey, and I decided to take Polaroids, which showcased the many benefits I’ve experienced along the way.
Taking part in this competition has been an incredible experience, and I’m truly grateful for the recognition. When I first started my apprenticeship, I had no idea how much I would grow, both personally and professionally. Like many others, I initially worried about fitting in and making friends, but instead, I found a supportive team, lasting friendships, and invaluable opportunities. Through my apprenticeship, I have gained financial independence, hands-on experience, and skills that will shape my future.
My competition entry aimed to reflect these experiences in a fun and creative way, and I’m incredibly proud of the result. The competition has reinforced just how valuable apprenticeships are and how much they can transform a career path.
Attending the WorldSkills UK EDI Heroes Awards
Another highlight this month was attending the WorldSkills UK Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Heroes Awards at One Great George Street in Westminster. I arrived at London Euston and made my way to Westminster, where I started the day with a lovely lunch in the sun.
The awards ceremony was incredibly inspiring. It brought together passionate individuals who are making real changes in their industries. Listening to their stories was a truly motivating experience, reminding me of the importance of ambition, perseverance, and striving for success. Seeing so many accomplished people in one room has encouraged me to push myself further. One day, I hope to be an award winner, too.
And of course, being in London was a bonus. Walking around Westminster, seeing Big Ben in the sunlight, and just soaking in the atmosphere was a great experience.
Coming out AGAIN
I recently came out again at work and on LinkedIn as a transgender man. Although I had previously identified as this, I took some time to explore, question, and truly understand what felt right for me. It’s been a journey of self-discovery, and now I stand here, confident in who I am.
My pronouns are he/him, and I’m proud to be part of the transgender community. It feels empowering to embrace this part of myself fully, and I’m excited to continue this journey with the support of my colleagues and connections. Being open about who I am is an important step in living authentically, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my truth.

Taking on the 50 Miles in March Challenge for the RSPCA
This March, I’m walking 50 miles to support the incredible work of the RSPCA. As someone who cares deeply about animal welfare, I wanted to contribute to their mission of rescuing and caring for animals in need. The RSPCA does amazing work to ensure animals receive the love, protection, and care they deserve, and I’m proud to be part of that effort. Every step I take is for a cause that’s close to my heart, and I’m hoping to raise awareness and support for the animals who need it most.

Every contribution, no matter how small, goes directly towards supporting animals in need, and it means the world to me.
To conclude
March has been a month of wins, inspiration, and challenges, and I look forward to what the next month will bring—more learning, new challenges, and hopefully more opportunities to make a difference.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll catch you in the next blog!
